I'm practical by nature, even though I believe occasionally a few people do get premonitions that turn out to be true. But if he's morose and resigned to it, that seems like a recipe for ignoring actual symptoms and dying for lack of treatment rather than anything else. If his dream means he is MORE likely to get cancer screenings and eat lots of fruits and anti-cancer vegetables like cruciferious veggies and those high in sulfur (onions), and others that help the immune system (mushrooms, green tea), then great. While I'm not convinced that is always true, it does frequently seem to be a factor, especially when it comes to scary things.

However even in those cases it was always a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy (IE: why worry about your cholesterol when you're going to die early anyway?).įrom a spiritual perspective, I've been told by someone who has even more premonitions than I do that the purpose for them is prayer.

I have also seen family members who decided they weren't going to live long because that side of the family does die young, and who did die much sooner than expected. This sounds more like a bad dream, especially if this person never discusses premonitions that don't involve themselves, but involve other people. I do believe in premonitions, but I think unless you have a lot of them it's difficult to know the difference between a premonition and a bad dream.
